The Quran vs Cancer

The Quran vs Cancer

Treatment is indeed an important part in the lives of cancer patients which is looked forward to and somewhat feared from its consequences. It is, therefore, important for a person to always remember Allah and continuously seek his protection and blessing. Allah said: [And if any one puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is (Allah) for him] [65:3]. Allah is the only one who has control over your destiny so ask him for whatever you are in need of especially during your prostration in your prayers, when you are fasting, on Fridays or even during Qiyam prayer.

We are continuously being tested in order to differentiate between who is sincere and who pretends. Allah said: [Do men think that they will be left alone on saying “We believe” and that they will not be tested? * We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false] [29:2-3]. The key to success in these tests is to be patient and have faith in Allah’s doings for He is all-knowing. Allah also said: [Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere] [2:155]. The Prophet (peace and prayers be upon him) said: “Whenever a Muslim is afflicted with a hardship, sickness, sadness, worry, harm, or depression, even a thorn's prick, Allah expiates his sins because of it” [Bukhari & Muslim].

These verses from Qur’an and the sayings of the Prophet lead us to think of our situation in a positive way. This surely will help us to recover faster and become healthier spiritually and physically. Let us not forget also that the Prophet (peace and prayers be upon him) prescribed to us medicines and remedies that would treat a range of diseases. Also, there are verses from Qu’ran that provide us with cure to all sorts of diseases be it physical or spiritual as Allah said: [We send down (stage by stage) in the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe: to the unjust it causes nothing but loss after loss] [17:82].

So, with faith and belief in that whatever happened was by the will of Allah and that it must be for our benefit whether it is obvious or not, we shall be able to cope with the treatment and condition we are in trusting that Allah will reward us for our patience.
